It’s a widely held dream of many children, and a fair few adults for that matter, to go and visit Santa in his native Lapland (the actual North Pole being on floating ice and therefore not suitable for building toy factories). As a parent it can be both an exciting and daunting prospect, because how do you make sure you pick the right trip?
With more than 16 years of experience behind us, we have created, refined and perfected what we believe is the perfect Father Christmas holiday. It’s not the cheapest, it’s not the shortest, but it is the very best of Lapland with the very best of skiFinland’s expertise, experience and services, which is why we’re proud to offer it exclusively to our customers.
Below skiFinland answer a few of your questions and explain why they know you should go on holiday with them.
How long should I stay?
We firmly believe it’s worth taking the time to savour this once in a lifetime experience, and we have found that a 3 or 5 night stay offers the best balance of time for activities and enjoying the company of your family with the sometimes hectic schedule of the Christmas period. Any shorter and you’ll get home with your head in a blur and possibly in need of a large glass of wine. If you fancy staying longer than 5 days you can do and then we would suggest combing your stay with additional activities, such as skiing or a stop-over in Helsinki. We specialise in bespoke holidays so let us know if you’d like to personalise your holiday.
What should I do?
First on the list has to be your visit with Father Christmas. Getting the chance to spend a good amount of time with Santa in a casual and cosy setting gives more nervous children chance to relax and take the encounter at their own pace, while more confident children will be thrilled with the chance to get to know Father Christmas better. That’s why skiFinland only provide small activity groups, with just a handful of families, and you’ll get to spend the whole morning or evening in and around Santa’s cottage, even having a meal with him and baking with Mrs Claus.
Lapland is a haven for other activities and our holidays include all the traditional highlights, all in relaxed, small groups, ran by professional and experienced native partners. Husky sledding, reindeer safaris, snowmobile sledge rides and fun in the snow are all included in our 3 and 5 night stays, with time to relax and enjoy yourselves and experience Lapland in between.
Where can I stay?
As well as a selection of lovely standard accommodation, we have a carefully curated selection of luxury accommodation from pent-house apartments to deluxe log cabins to suit all families.
